by Order of Lord Inquisitor Caidin, you are to be provided with constant updates about all developments directly or indirectly related to the recent Piety incursion.
As of now, over ninety percent of the search and rescue teams deployed to the Piety system immediately following the departure of the Komus phenomenon have been recalled. Those that returned from the surface alive and sane enough to give testimony have reported that the world remains in a continuing state of tectonic upheaval and massive social unrest. The region reported by you as the epicentre of the incursion has been almost completely destroyed by no less than eighteen massive eruptions stemming from a total of seven faultlines converging in that area.
Several magnitudes larger than other incursions monitored recently, the Piety incursion is comparable only to the incursion of Tanis in 709.M40. Conservative estimates assume 7 billion casualties.
At least three billion are assumed to have been killed directly or indirectly by the effects of the seismic and volcanic activity within following the first 24 hours of the incident.
As of now, Pietys industrial and socioeconomic state has reverted to a pre-feral state. No major governmental structures remain in effect, and although there has been a nominal imposition of martial law planetwide, no planetary agency remains with the capabilities to enforce it. Planetary Governor Titus Borazine, along with several other high-ranking members of both the military and administrative apparatus of Piety were last seen a few hours after the initial incident and are presumed dead.
By order of the Calixis Conclave, sanctioned by Lord Inquisitor Caidin, the former hive world of Piety is put under quarantine and declared a forbidden world. All official records both of the incident and the planet and system as such are to be purged sector-wide. The possession or distribution of any information relating to these matters outside of the ranks of His Holy Inquisition will become punishable by death, effective 000 817.M41.
